v2.2: All Temtem have a Quick Analysis alongside their set(s), while all of them are tentatively tiered now.

v.3.0: In Progress... Finished! Guide has been updated to date with barebones information. Quick Analysis or Previews will be coming later as this took a long time and sapped a lot of energy out of me.
v3.1: Added an updated Myx Set. Other sets under possible updates are Gyalis, Gazuma, Saipat, Kinu, Mastione, Volarend, and even more!

Please give your input onto the Tiers, Sets, and Analysis below. Certain things may change with some deliberation. Analysis will be inside the spoiler for each Temtem. Friendly disclaimer and reminder that this is mostly my opinion for most of them and should be taken with a grain of salt as I can be wrong.

The list will consist of any Temtem in their current final state, meaning their highest achievable forms in Early Access. The only unevolved form I have is currently Paharac, Raize, Orphyll, and Vulor.

If you're just here for my Tier List (Not Ordered), here you go.

Set Details

TVs and special SV setups go here, alternate suggestions for those as well go here. When items and abilities come out, they go here as well.

Usage Tips

When to use a Temtem and how to use it effectively is the key to victory.

Team Options

Who helps this Temtem the most and who does this Temtem help the most?

Other Options

Other things that are currently irrelevant to the meta, but strong or very situational things.

Checks and Counters

What beats this Temtem? What can handle it decently and what completely shuts it down?

Does this seem familiar? It's the same points of analysis that Smogon does. In my opinion, this setup covers the main points pretty well, so if it ain't broke, don't fix it?

Other Options and Check and Counters come after ALL the sets have been explained. Overview is written once at the beginning.

Overview

Tuwai has strict competition in the Alpha. Out of seven eight (Saku) Wind type Temtem, it has been unanimously declared the worst of the eight. Due to not having any utility and nothing to set itself apart, other than a somewhat underwhelming Shrill Voice, Tuwai is a very hard Temtem to utilize in the meta. Not all is bad due to having one of the only spread moves in the game currently and a strong STAB, these could contribute to its good points, but its overall lack of stats and moveset severely limit Tuwai's usefulness to any team it is assigned to.

21's Stand
Hand Fan
Spoilsport
493 SpA / 499 HP / 3 Atk / 3 Def / 1 SpDef

- Tornado
- Shrill Voice
- Wind Burst
- Noxious Bomb

Techniques

Ah... 21. Spoilsport is unfortunate as it only works for Shrill Voice, but it raises its damage which it needs more than Resilient. At least Tuwai gets Tornado, it has amazing power and priority with the only downside being its one hold. This is Tuwai's most important attack and deals the most damage. Shrill Voice is the whole reason to use Tuwai, it hits both opponents and does some notable amount of damage, but unfortunately is not affected by STAB. . Wind Burst is there for when Shrill Voice is unneeded and Tornado is unavailable. Noxious Bomb finishes off some pesky Nature and Water types.

Set Details

Due to not being the fastest Temtem and having a very restrictive moveset, the TVs provided reflect the TVs on a Tuwai for maximum output on its bulk and damage in one. As such, Special Attack is put at max, while HP is given priority over Attack to prioritize being able to do damage by surviving attacks from the enemy and delivering the counterattack. If Tuwai opts into and wants Feather Gatling to hit hard alongside Noxious Bomb, while still wanting to be able to output decent damage with Tornado and Shrill Voice, it is recommended to drop some HP for some Attack.

Usage Tips

Using Tuwai is a risk, if we are to honestly speak of Tuwai's potential. Tuwai has to come into a situation where either it can revenge kill a Temtem with Peck or not die instantly to the enemy. Safely switching into Tuwai is usually only possible through a fainted Temtem due to not being able to contribute much once switched in. Try to place Tuwai against opponents that are slower or about to faint to place pressure on the opponent to do something.

Team Options

Sherald is always a good teammate for Wind type Temtem, allowing for Crystal Dust Synergy. Sherald also resists Electric attacks, which plague Tuwai, so it's even better and the best partner for Tuwai. Sherald also has the added bonus of ripping apart many of the Wind type Temtem. Other good partners are Cerneaf for resisting Electric and Saku or Loali for their great special bulk. Tental, Skunch, and Saipat are also good teammates for cleaining up the enemy with their powerful attacks when Tuwai blows heavily damages them. However, Tental and Saipat both share the Electric weakness, so caution is necessary when using both on the same team. Gazuma and Nessla work to help Tuwai finish off Wind type Temtem, since it cannot break through them by itself.

Other Options

Feather Gatling has potential to be paired with Noxious Bomb for a Physical set, but Tornado is too good to give up Special Attack. Multiple Pecks is a very cost heavy move that provides heavy neutral damage, but not a whole lot more. It is not super effective on anything. It also does not get a STAB bonus, so heavy caution is advised using this move, as it is only usable in very certain situations, such as against Electric types, but is also outclassed by Noxious Bomb. Peck can be used as a fast move, but no Speed investment makes this iffy.

Checks and Counters

Electric Types
: Gazuma and Nessla both pose quite an issue to Tuwai, tanking its strongest attack and retaliating with an OHKO or 2HKO. They all even outspeed Tuwai easily, causing Tuwai to have to avoid both these Temtem and can do little to nothing in return to Gazuma and maybe some damage on Nessla with Noxious Bomb.

Specially Bulky Temtem: Kinu and Saku give Tuwai a bit of trouble due to investing in Defense but also being specially bulky to the point where it seems Tuwai cannot do that much damage. Piraniant is also like this, but its Special Defense is quite low, so it is possible to get around this.

Wind Types: Wind types such as Loali and Pigepic will give Tuwai a hard time. They resist Tuwai's bulk and are also specially bulky to the point where Tuwai will find it hard to deal damage. Gazuma and Barnshe are in the same boat, but both can provide support to their teammates, where Granpah may have Sleep or stat drops, while Barnshe can Bamboozle his ally or Intimidate your Temtem, and both can use Turbo Choreography. Wiplump can resist Tuwai and outspeed and destroy it on the second turn with Tsunami.

Fast and Strong Wallbreakers: Due to being not all that fast or bulky, Tuwai has the problem of being blasted by an OHKO from Houchic, Skunch, and Ukama.

Overview

Wiplump was a very unfortunate Temtem in the very early stages of Alpha. Due to TCs not working correctly, Wiplump could not learn Tsunami, so it was stuck with Blizzard and Ice Cubes as its respective moves, becoming a Temtem that could not abuse its best stats (Special Attack and Speed). Unfortunately due to that, it was placed as one of the worst Temtem of the current 17 usable fully evolved Temtem and it was had to rely on teammates to get off, what was most likely, a very lackluster rewards for the effort. Not to mention it still had other issues, such as Blizzard being a turn 2 move. However, now it has Tsunami, the tables turn a bit. With a respectable Special Defense and high Special Attack and Speed, Wiplump can use Tsunami and decimate its foes like no tomorrow. One of the premier Speedy Tsunami users, it's finally found a niche with its stats and can abuse them to what their potential entails. However, even with Tsunami helping along its lackluster moveset, it still has the earlier issues from before. Not only is Blizzard a turn 2 move, but so is Tsunami, forcing it to rely on Cold Breeze or Ice Cubes to get through turn 1. Furthermore, it is quad weak to one of the most popular types of the meta, Electric, and also has no way to break through the popular Nature types of the meta. Considering all this, it could be said that Wiplump is definitely better off than the start of the Alpha, but has its work cut out to become useful.

Tsunami Freedom (Fast)
500 SpA / 500 Spe

- Tsunami
- Cold Breeze / Bubbles
- Ice Cubes / Bubbles
- Blizzard / Bubbles

Techniques

Tsunami is Wiplump's saving grace, allowing for it to be on Water teams and be useful alongside them. Due to the fact that it has normal Priority (2), it can actually abuse its high speed stat to deal massive amounts of damage on turn 2. Cold Breeze is the best move Wiplump can use turn 1 to allow itself to be able to reach turn 2 and start using Tsunami. It allows for a stack of cold to be applied early, but it doesn't deal very much damage. Ice Cubes is a great Water type move... but except for the fact that it's a physical attack. Due to this, even with its wondrous Synergy effect, there is a chance that even Bubbles may be of more use to you. Bubbles being a very weak, very low stamina usage move, is a perfect move for finishing off any weak Temtem on the field, while still being special and a Water type move. Blizzard on the other hand is very good, if Wiplump could get it off. The main issue with Blizzard is that it's Priority 1 and therefore makes Wiplump go half the speed it usually has, making it very possible for it to go last. That, combined with the Hold 1 of the move, makes it another possibility to be replaced with Bubbles which is consistently available and low cost, but also low damage.

Set Details

As Tsunami is the main star of the show, the TVs are very straightforward in making them maxed out in Special Attack and Speed. HP or Stamina can also be a fine investment with the extra TVs or splitting them from the main stats can be fine if you're willing to sacrifice some Special Attack or Speed. Attack is generally not recommended for the complete disregard for Ice Cubes over Tsunami.

Usage Tips

As with any Tsunami user, Wiplump is strongest alongside another Water type, preferably one with Tsunami themselves. Double Tsunami compositions allow for instantly freezing the enemy with a turn of setup. Avoid any contact with Nessla or Ganki or Wiplump will be utterly useless. Wiplump is a good lead against non Ganki/Nessla/Kalabyss leads, but can also function as a revenge killer to bypass the Hold 1 of Tsunami by using Cold Breeze or Ice Cubes to finish off a weak Temtem. Understand without Tsunami, Wiplump will either be doing less damage or be going last, so plan accordingly around those weaknesses.

Team Options

As stated above, any Water type Temtem will work well alongside Wiplump. Preferably, another Tsunami user would be ideal, such as Ukama, Saipat, and Kalabyss. Even without Tsunami, a Water type will work fine, such as Nessla. However watch out for Nature types with these setups, as Nature type Temtem can wall them without a problem even with Tsunami and have a real chance of killing said Water types. Kalabyss is exceptionally useful in those circumstances due to being able to OHKO those pesky Nature type Temtem and Saipat can use Venomous Claws to deal with them as well. Also, as it is a dual type of Water/Wind, Crystle still enjoys its company, which allows Crystle to blow Crystal Dust after Crystal Dust. Another great partner would be Ganki to cover for Wiplump's inability to break Wind types comfortably without Tsunami and even provides great setup. Other Wind types that run Turbo Choreography, like Pigepic or Barnshe, can help with Blizzard's Priority 1 weakness.

Synergy Abuser (Blizzard)
500 HP / 500 SpA

- Blizzard
- Tsunami
- Ice Cubes
- Cold Breeze
Note: Atk can be split out of HP for Ice Cubes. HP is because Speed is ineffective with Blizzard's Priority 1.

Techniques

Blizzard and Tsunami are the main stars of the set, both allowing Wiplump the flexibility to blast its opponents with a Synergy boosted move or just a plain powerful one. Blizzard's main drawback is that it's slow and Tsunami's main drawback is that it needs a turn to Hold. This set relies on Ice Cubes and Cold Breeze as the second Synergy move and the utility move. Both allow for a good combination into Tsunami on the next turn and can setup for a powerful Blizzard after that. This is a very straightforward and risky set, so nothing really

Set Details

Once again, Special Attack TVs are preferred, but since Blizzard is a main star in the set, Speed TVs are forgone in favor of HP TVs for survivability, as Blizzard makes Speed TVs ineffective. Attack TVs are a bit more important in this set and can be split from the HP TVs in favor of doing more with Ice Cubes early on.

Usage Tips

This Wiplump set acts as either an Anti-lead to certain leads or as a late game sweeper against certain Temtem that remain. With its added bulk and massive Special Attack, it's meant to break holes into the enemy team with Blizzard and Tsunami. As always, avoid contact with Nessla and Ganki, however unlike the other set, Saku is not getting away freely from Wiplump, but Loali will still be a major issue. Any non Wind or Electric leads should be blown apart if they cannot take down Wiplump and any late game situations with that scenario can allow Wiplump to clean house upon the remnants of the enemy team.

Team Options

This set still enjoys the normal teammates for Tsunami users, such as Nessla, Kalabyss, and Ukama, but greatly enjoys Turbo Choreography users, such as Pigepic and Barnshe. They allow for an aggressive style of play with Blizzard and can even allow for certain it to outspeed some Temtem. Pigepic and Barnshe also have Bamboozle to help protect Wiplump. Pigepic also has the added bonus of having Stone Wall, a move that makes Wiplump even harder to kill on top of everything else. Other users include Crystle or Skunch, but Crystle still has the Crystal Dust Synergy, so it's still great with Wiplump.

Other Options

Honestly, the only other options left are to make Wiplump a Special Tank, while trying to avoid Nature and Electric type Temtem as much as possible or run a very joke oriented physical set with Head Charge and Ice Cubes. Nothing else is available to Wiplump at the moment, so there aren't really any other options.

Checks and Counters

Electric Types
: Ganki and Nessla will OHKO Wiplump, no questions asked. Not only are they quad effective against Wiplump and they're also at the forefront of the meta. Nessla in particular completely walls out Wiplump and Ganki has DC Beam to outspeed Wiplump at all times. Avoid at all costs.

Nature Types: Saku and Loali both tank Wiplump very well alongside having Urushiol to do a good chunk of damage and poison chipping. Loali in particular fully walls anything Wiplump throws at it, making for a very nasty situation where it will take multiple turns to even get Loali close enough to finish off. Saku on the other hand, may also has a STAB boosted Sharp Leaf to throw for extra damage.

Physical Wallbreakers: Physical attackers can tank a hit from Wiplump and retaliate with a strong move and OHKO Wiplump. They may even outspeed Wiplump with enough speed investment. Skunch and Smazee are the most dangerous when it comes to Speed and Attack, but Kalabyss can also pose an issue with OHKOing with Toxic Ink.

Wind Types: If Bubbles or Ice Cubes cannot do enough damage, Wind types, such as Paharac and Pigepic can pose issues as they can set up for their allies with no real consequences from Wiplump.

Sets

Order of Sets, if multiple sets exist, matters in viability of sets. All sets are implied to be with all perfect SVs with the most minimal usage of TVs, so there will be some leftover from time to time. Most TVs are not optimized, rather they are usually just maxed out, so there can be more optimal ways to split the TVs. Gear choices are assuming something better doesn't have it (most of the time). Use your own judgment to replace what's leftover from your choices.

If you’re wondering why Temtem have TVs leftover or why I have them not at 500 / 500, I recommend taking a look at the formula for stats or going to a site like TemTeam | Your Temtem Team Builder and taking a look for yourself.

I feel the need to emphasize many of these sets are as standard as possible to give a baseline. Editing them to your own convenience or style is highly recommended and not all sets are covered (such as Anaerobic Volarend).

Kinu is super flexible, build whatever you want on it. The sample TV spread is for outspeeding Saipat, you can go even lower if you don't care about that or max if you care about speed tying max Speed Platimous. This is a very free to do whatever you want build.

Tiering, Generally Speaking, Means

S
: S tier Temtem are meta defining, flexible, and is the best or the near best at their role on the team. They rule over the meta and dictate the flow and ebb of how the meta evolves and how team compositions are built. This, however, does not mean they have no weaknesses as they still need to be played around properly.

A: A tier Temtem are similar to S tier Temtem, but they are not as meta defining and are not as easy to stick on any random composition. They require proper teambuilding and need to cover their bases well, but still have very flexible and comfortable positions in most team compositions.

B: B tier Temtem are solid, but requires their team to cover multiple small problems or one big problem. They may need support from higher or lower tiers to be solid by covering their issue(s), but are very dependable when stabilized by their teammates.

C: C tier Temtem are niche and need a good composition to succeed, but are very good when they are pulled off well. They can fill certain spots that are specifically made to counter or check popular Temtem from higher tiers.

D: D tier Temtem are very niche and have to be in a certain composition that specifically allows them be useful. They are able to be used to a high level if their composition is specifically made to use its good attributes and lessen the impact of their bad attributes.

F: F tier Temtem have little use in the meta, outshined and made irrelevant by other Temtem of similar roles or made irrelevant by threats stronger than them. Their only solace are their very gimmicky sets that can surprise opponents.

U: U (Unviable) tier Temtem are unusable and should not be put into a composition for any reason. They are unable to perform well at all in the meta and cannot outshine or outdo other Temtem of the same role and do not have the surprise factor that F tier Temtem have. (All hail the 2 1).

Recommendations per Tier (Loosely)

S:
As many as your composition allows
A: As many as your composition allows
B: Two or less
C: Two or less
D: One or less
F: One or less
U: None

Order loosely indicates the Temtem's ranking within the tier.

v1.0

Tier List was created.

v1.2

Ukama B -> A
Kalabyss A -> S
Wiplump C -> B
Paharac B -> A
Loali S -> SS

v2.0

All Tier Ratings moved down by one. Tier List was reset in preparation for the overhaul.

v2.2

Tier List has been tentatively reinstated.

v3.0

Tier List tentatively restarted

Testing and Discussion decide whether these Temtem change or not. Feel free to send me a DM or post something to agree or disagree or propose your own changes. Bold means I’m highly planning on doing it. Otherwise it’s just a suggestion. Italics means they are a hot topic.

Ukama C -> B
Raize S -> A
Vulcrane A -> B
Saku A -> B
Zenoreth B -> A
Pigepic B -> A
Goolder C -> D
Nildrasil D -> C
Oceara D -> F
Cerneaf D -> F

Anahir D -> C

I don't agree with the Skunch wallbreaker having pure 500 Atk TVs unless it's s guaranteed 2hko on any of the Crystle sets. A mix of 300 Atk/200 SpA might be better.

However everything else looks good.

Noted already on how I don't know what 2HKOs/OHKOs Crystle with TVs. If someone wants to test it, feel free to tell me please~
(Then after they test that, people put some SpD on Crystle to prevent 2HKOs/OHKOs and then Skunch puts more SpA and it all stops when Crystle loses too many TVs from its other stats. TV creeps lol)

Why wouldn't you include Stonewall on Skrunch? He can learn it if you teach it to a low level Skail. TC's just can't replace moves, but you can still teach them.

Also, it depends on your SV, but you don't want to put 500 TV's into something. For most good SV tems, you won't get a point past 495.

Noted, didn't know Skunch could still get it.
Also, moved bulky around with fast one per your request on Bulky > Fast.

As for the TVs part, they're just gentle suggestions. After all every SV is currently hard to perfect so apparently it might be wise to add 10 into another stat for now.

Love this! I am working on TV training my temtem at the moment so I will comment on tiers as I am done and get to try this stuff out. to me everyone seems like the role I would have put them in.

Small issue with your formatting; your Pigepic spoiler is in the spoiler for Barnshe, and the Saipat spoiler is also under Barnshe but is not working correctly.

Love the list, but your SS tier can have very different builds and still be very useful. Crystle is a prime example since Crystal Dust is 3+ priority so maxing out speed is not entirely necessary for TVs on Crystle if you have the Stamina
Ganki is similar, but I do love the list and the Meta definitions, great start to kick of Temtem Meta

I’ve heard Crystle has very low Speed, so investing in Speed, even just a little, is necessary to outspeed even with Diamond Dust’s 3+ modifier.
Or so I’ve been told. It could be more shifted into HP, SpD, or Atk depending on how much Spe is actually necessary and what you’d rather have your Crystle do.

As for Ganki, max speed is for Hypnosis.

I agree about Ganki, I just meant he was more versatile, he should be SPD fed. I agree THAT Crystle needs to be fed a little SpD, it is slow. But building it tanky can also help, I see that being its future use when we get evolutions

Yeah, Crystle’s probably gonna be a tank with good damage when it evolves. For now though, as long as Diamond Dust outspeeds any Priority 2 move, he‘s the most feared attacker of the meta.

Just a little status update, I'm going to be starting V1.3 where analysis is going to be written.
Due to finals and Smash Ultimate releasing, this will be a bit slow, but the estimated time needed to finish is about two weeks 12/21/2018. Due to being an estimate, this could be longer or shorter (most likely longer).
Temtem that I want to look for others to write: Saku, Loali, Smazee, Kalabyss, and Piraniant so those may take the longest. I already have an idea of who I want to write these, but feel free to offer. Others may also get shuttled off to others. If you want to take a crack at analysis, DM me on discord or ping me or just post here.

Thanks for your support~

P.S. As an example, I added Tuwai's analysis in. Feel free to check it out~

Remember there's a "Analysis Progress" Spoiler so you can keep up to date with which analysis are being done!

Look forward to seeing the analyses Kiza! Loved the one on Tuwai, I completely agree with your analysis! Have a good Holiday playing Smash and good luck with finals! If you're in any physics/math classes, let me know if you need help (that is my discipline)

Just out of curiosity, how much competitive style play have you run to build this tier list and everything?

Mfw I quit being a CompSci major cause of Physics. Nah I’ll be fine unless somehow cramming for Stats kills me.

Not enough imo. It’s mostly aggregated knowledge from some tests I’ve done against my Club, theorycrafting by my lonesome self in the darkness of the void, Vox, and Jeb. This is why I literally started the post asking for input since the input I have is in a funnel. Although, I believe it to pretty accurate besides that, there’s still issues.

While the project for V1.3 is proceeding at a slow pace, I’m going to take this time to mention a small new update, but relevant as V1.4 came out as Pressure Washer and Aqua Stone we’re both changed in what kind of damage they do (special and physical respectively). Sets have changed to reflect that. This patch will also include the rulings of the proposed Tiering changes, so feel free to comment on if you want them to pass or not.

Trying to build a Pigepic right now and finding very useful as a variable support with many build possibilities
I'm gonna keep messing around with builds on it, but if you need someone to right up Pigepic, let me know

Hi,

I have some questions regarding competitive info that I can't undestand with my testing, and maybe someone here knows and wants to share :D

I was reading read some stat spreads here, and I was trying to test if everything worked as expected; I mean, in the Pokemon games, every spread is made following the rule -> 4EVs = 1 stat point, so I was looking for the equivalent rule here -> X TVs = 1 stat point.

So I started testing and I though that value was 15 (15 TVs = 1 STAT). This test was done with a (luma) Paharac with 50 SV in ATK, getting TVs from Ganki. It worked until I reached 135 TVs (9 extra ATK points). Then, it started to earn the next stat point within 16 TVs. But this just happened twice (then I lost all track); right now, it is on 223 TVs, and the last 2 stat points went on the count of 21 TVs.

The most confusing thing to me, is that I have a Skunch that was helping my Paharac and those numbers fitted him until the 135 TV mark as well, but then the TV values changed too (and in a different way that in the Paharac case!). This time it was like 18 TVs I think; now it is on 227 TVs and its last stats point went on the count of 21 TVs, the same as Paharac.

In summary: They worked similarly in the beginning (up to 135) and in the end, but something went differently somewhere along the way. So if anyone has any insights on this I would be very grateful.
