It wasn't happening at the start of the patch, I was actually able to play just fine. I had it happen today only. Can be replicated consistently.
When it happened I was going towards the Anak Lair so I just teleported to Attol Row, ban phase proceeded as normal in both instances, then black screen that disappears once I relaunch the game (but still I lose one turn that way, making it quite annoying).
I was playing handheld.
